Veritable Quandary

I’M SO EXCITED to review one of my FAVORITE places in Portland! Veritable Quandary (or VQ) is one of the most consistently delicious places and usually where I end up choosing for special events (for instance, my birthday last year!) And because it was my birthday, I got something even better than cake. The famous souffle (order it in advance – it takes 45 minutes to make!) and a glass of 20 year Kopke Port!

ImageI mean, will you just look at that magic?

OK, I obviously started backwards here (but with a dessert like that, how can you not?) I’ve been here several times, both during winter and summer seasons, for brunch, lunch and dinner, and have had a variety of different dishes. I have to say their BEST most SPECTACULAR dishes are their fish dishes. I’ve had steak, french toast, veggie burgers, sandwiches, soups, pasta – you name it. All delicious, but really the most amazing dishes I’ve had have been some sort of white fish dish.

See below for explanation.

Two different fish dishes, two different occasions. MAN. I just want to crawl into a corner and cry because it’s so good. OK, whatever, I’m being dramatic, but my point is – if you’re looking for a special occasion place or just want to have an amazing fine dining experience, VQ is always going to be on the top of my list of recommendations. In the winter, they have cozy seating (or get their wine room for private parties if you can – so fun!) and in the summer they have an AWESOME giant patio. Oh, did I mention this is a wine bar and has fantastic, reasonably priced wine options (and all their staff is well versed and can tell you about most wines and make recommendations!) Seriously, just a fantastic place and experience. What are you waiting for?

Ps, I swear I’m not sponsored by VQ, although I wish I were.
